Family Life

The personal side of my life is just as intense and varied as my professional side. However, while I might be ready to throw the door wide open on my professional life, I am not as comfortable posting every last detail of my family life on the Internet. Mostly because I have children who I believe deserve come degree of privacy, and I might have relatives who would also prefer some measure of privacy.

So briefly, I was adopted at a very young age and have a brother who was also adopted. Our adoptive parents passed away several years ago. Soon after their passing, I had the fortunate opportunity to meet with my birth mother’s family. Unfortunately, my birth father for some reason is not comfortable with meeting and communicating, but at least I have been able to talk with a few members of his side of the family.

I am married to another civil engineer who works for the Illinois Department of Transportation. We have six children, one of whom has Down Syndrome. We have also dealt with cancer in our family with at least one member surviving and the others losing the battle. I will also share that through my marriage and that of my brother I have been fortunate to have the most awesome in-laws.

The one family activity in which I have a strong interest is genealogy, and I try to research our families as much as time will allow. I also enjoy working on other people’s family histories. I maintain a blog and family genealogy site at http://www.borowiakfamily.com. Some of my work is also posted on Ancestry.com. If you want access to the family tree, and are related to me through birth, adoption, or marriage, you will have to e-mail me for approval of your account registration.
